How you finish is more important than how you start

Pursuing my DBA wasn’t something I or those around me initially imagined for my career journey. I dropped out of varsity early and navigated odd jobs, learning from the ‘school of hard knocks’—experience. Mistakes were plentiful, but they were my experiments in learning. My first taste of ‘corporate life’ was as a lab assistant at a nuclear facility, a job that taught me to value every worker regardless of their role. It was there I first encountered a computer, struggling with the mouse but intrigued nonetheless.

After being retrenched, I invested my severance in computer school, climbing the ranks to eventually serve as Chief Technology and Security Officer. The IT industry offered certification paths, but I sought enduring knowledge, leading me to pursue an MBA. What began as a daunting task became a passion for learning and understanding the importance of education.

Becoming a father later in life shifted my priorities, emphasizing family time alongside career growth. Now pursuing my DBA, I aim to inspire those who may feel directionless, showing that the journey’s start matters less than its conclusion. My goal is to shape organizational cultures that foster personal growth and drive sustainable success.

Each career journey is unique, and mine is driven by a desire to share my experiences with the next generation entering the workforce. I hope to inspire a hunger for learning and a commitment to creating better workplaces. For me, the purpose of work lies in enabling others to become their best selves.
