I chose to study midwifery because I wanted to make a difference in the lives of women and their families by combining the great care, I learned with my passion for helping others. I wanted to inspire people from all backgrounds to embrace their experiences and to help them in times of need

I have been a midwife for 13 years, last eight of which I spent at Mediclinic City Hospital in the United Arab Emirates. Working in a hospital environment with tiny new beings comes with a lot of responsibilities and factors to consider. Every duty must be completed with precision, as a single mistake might prove fatal. When you are in the clinic, your stress and awareness levels are significantly active. The Covid-19 pandemic contributed to my distress because we do not really know how it alters, impacts, or spreads due to a lack of knowledge. Having children at home and coping with new-borns in such a setting was terrifying. As members of the healthcare system, we are expected to be responsive, determined, and supportive in every event. We have been, nevertheless, just as afraid as the rest of the world. Despite our fears about the infection, we were expected to labour additional hours and give our maximum.
It was hard and frustrating not to be entirely there for my family and be unable to take days off to spend time with them or even resign. It was overwhelming, yet I was braver than I expected and tougher than I seemed. I made the decision to view the sun while blindly unseeing the shadow. I committed to strengthening my skills so that I could better assist others. I was mindful that it would be more difficult than the position I was in, yet my outlook was upbeat and optimistic. This was the only way I could continue to serve and care for individuals in the most effective way imaginable.

Given my hectic and demanding schedule at work and being a mother, choosing a university to offer me a suitable program was not straightforward. Westford was a godsend; it was not only well-known for online learning, but it was also economical and flexible, which suited my needs well. Despite the fact that we were in the midst of a pandemic, the quality of instruction did not deteriorate. The beginning was not easy or smooth; I was having the most difficulty managing my time but completing the first module and receiving a distinction with the help and guidance of the professors motivated me to keep going.
